Who we are


The Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN) is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, scientific organization registered in Nigeria whose major function is to promote teaching and research in Neuroscience in Nigeria. NSN organizes conferences annually and several workshops in various Universities within Nigeria.




Our History


We are the single largest scientific organization in Nigeria whose membership comprises of natural/biomedical scientists (Neuroanatomists, Neurophysiologists, Neuropharmacologists, Neurochemists e.t.c), social scientists (Psychologists, Neurolinguists, sociologists e.t.c) and clinicians (Psychiatrists, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Anaaesthesiologists, Neuropathologists e.t.c) working on brain and brain-related functions and disorders.


Objectives



  • To stimulate, design and coordinate interdisciplinary research in the neurosciences; and facilitate exchange of ideas and expertise among Nigerian Neuroscientists and the international community at large;
  • To initiate neuroscience programme that will foster training and exchange of information through workshops, seminars, and conferences; and to encourage the formation of research groups in Nigerian universities and Research Institutes;
  • To maintain relations with IBRO, UNESCO, and its agencies and with other international, inter-governmental, or non-governmental organisations as well as other global neuroscience societies;
  • To maintain a directory of neuroscientists in Nigeria and their research activities; and
  • To undertake such other activities relevant to neurosciences as the Society shall from time to time decide.
